What is Tantra?

Tantra  is a Hindu term  meaning "woven together".  The ancient practice of tantra is a system of yoga, ritual and teachings in which the union of male and female principles is worshipped. Tantra teaches that lovemaking between a man and woman, when entered into with awareness, is a gateway to both sexual and spiritual ecstasy, a path to an experience of the Divine. Using the chakras or energy centers of the body to channel and harness the spiritual and energetic forces, thereby raising the level of consciousness.
